EWE Polska Becomes Elenger

The energy group EWE Polska, which operates the second-largest privately owned natural gas distribution network in Poland, has now adopted the name and brand of Elenger.

Elenger acquired the group, consisting of three companies, from the German EWE AG at the end of last year for €120 million, marking what is believed to be the largest Estonian investment in Poland to date.

“We are introducing a single name and brand across Finland, the Baltic region, and Poland. One part of this transition was the renaming of Eesti Gaas in December, and now, the long-established EWE Polska is undergoing a name change in Poland,” said Margus Kaasik, Chairman of the Board of Elenger Group.

“The name Elenger reflects our expanded value proposition—electricity, energy, green gas, and LNG—a clean, Western-origin natural gas that we supply across this region, helping us establish a leading position in the Baltic-Finnish gas market,” Kaasik added.

Under its new name, Elenger Polska manages Poland’s second-largest privately owned natural gas distribution network, with a total length of 2,316 km, serving more than 25,000 customers. In addition to infrastructure development, the company is involved in the sale of natural gas and electricity, with energy sales reaching 1.2 TWh last year.

The names of its subsidiaries have also changed: EWE Energia Sp. z o.o. is now Elenger Dystrybucja Sp. z o.o., and EWE Przesył Sp. z o.o. is now Elenger Serwis Sp. z o.o.

A six-member supervisory board has been established to oversee Elenger Polska, chaired by Andres Trink, who previously led Merko, one of the largest construction companies in the Baltic region. Krzysztof Noga will continue as the Chairman of the Management Board.
